Any property built or renovated before 2000 could contain asbestos. For your peace of mind and protection we can quickly test an asbestos sample to help you identify issues in your property. We offer a quick sample service so that you can determine what type of asbestos you have in your property and how best to remediate it. Sampling is an integral part of an asbestos survey.
What is asbestos sampling?
Asbestos sampling involves carefully removing a piece of suspect material. The remaining material from which the sample was removed will be sealed and patched up to make it safe and ensure no asbestos dust will be released. The asbestos sample is carefully sealed and sent to the lab for analysis.
There are three main types of asbestos found in UK properties:
- White asbestos (Chrysotile)
- Brown asbestos (Amosite)
- Blue asbestos (Crocidolite)
Each of the different types of asbestos needs to be managed and removed differently so understanding what you are dealing with is a key step towards encapsulating or removing the asbestos on your property.
You should always use a trained professional, like one of our asbestos surveyors, to take a sample of asbestos from your property. However if a piece of suspected asbestos is found to have fallen off you may be able to provide it providing you carefully follow the HSE regulations and ensure your property is safe.
