Asbestos surveys, removal and disposal

Asbestos becomes a health hazard when it is crumbled or crushed (known as friable) into a powder. Released into the air, microscopic asbestos fibres have the density of cigarette smoke. This means they can be easily inhaled and trapped in the lower part of the lungs. Asbestos is a chemically inert, mineral material resistant to heat and virtually indestructible.

Asbestos; Frequently Asked Questions
Asbestos is a material to be treated with both caution and respect. Solent Environmental do just that in a professional and a practical sense. The first steps are to recognise the problem and its implications in removal. The company can operate as the main or specialist contractor or as consultants.Once the extent of the Asbestos has been determined and its condition mapped a removal and disposal schedule and plan can be produced. From this point the contamination possibilities, potential demolition difficulties, safety zones, air monitoring stations, plant, equipment and specialised man power are determined. Solent Environment does this not only with safety in mind but with a common sense approach for minimal disruption and care for your budgeting requirements. In difficult structural conditions or architecturally sensitive situations Solent Environmental have the expertise and capability to produce successful outcomes.
As a Solent Environmental client you can monitor progress at all stages on practical progress, compliance and accounting accountability.
The site survey a first step.
Operating to the highest standards, Solent Environmental surveyors all have BOHS (British Occupational Hygiene Society) qualifications as approved by the HSE. The survey will need to identify the location of the Asbestos, ascertain its condition and amount and if necessary identify the type through laboratory analysis. One or all of three stages of survey maybe required; presumptive, visual or intrusive (which sometimes calls for destructive inspection).
